About Marsha

Family Values

Marsha and her husband Greg have been married for 37 years.  After graduating from Webster Groves High School, she attended Mizzou, where she met Greg. He was commissioned into the U.S. Navy after college and served as a Navel Flight Officer. After five years of service, they decided to return to Greg's hometown of Oakville to raise their family. Their three children, Melissa, Mark and Lauren, attended Oakville High School and each graduated from universities in Missouri. They now have three granddaughters who are the fifth generation in their family to attend local schools, two at Oakville Senior High School and one at Queen of All Saints.  Marsha is a pro-life Christian and attends St. Paul’s United Church of Christ on Telegraph Road.

Small Business Owner

Over 30 years ago, the Haefner’s opened their first business, Haefner’s  Greenhouses, and became a major wholesale supplier of seasonal plants throughout the St. Louis area.  In 2004 their garden center, For The Garden by Haefner’s, was built at the corner of Telegraph Rd. and Heintz Rd. Their facility for growing crops is now located in House Springs, Missouri.  They have employed over 800 people since opening their doors  and continue to provide needed jobs in our area.  Being a business owner has given Marsha valuable experience as a policy maker in Jefferson City.  She knows first-hand how government policies can help or hinder success for businesses, especially small businesses.

Commitment to Community

The Haefner children have benefited from everything Oakville has to offer.  Greg and Marsha give substantial credit for the responsible citizens their children have become to the schools and community in which they were raised.  Serving the community is not new to Marsha.  Their business is a charter member of the South County Chamber of Commerce.   Greg and Marsha Haefner were honored to have been selected as  “Citizens of the Year.” Marsha served on the chamber's Board of Directors for five years and the Executive Board for two years before her election for State Representative.  Marsha has also served on her church council and is a certified Steven’s Minister.
